Bharatanatyam is a dance form that dwells on discipline. The Adavus build discipline and perseverance along with connecting to the rich culture of India and guru bhakthi propagated by this dance. Dancing along with other students and presenting the dance before audiences builds confidence and sheds stage fright. Bharatanatyam is an art that instills poise, patience, and self-improvisation. It is art form that also emphasizes on physical fitness and develops the skills of judgement, presentation, co ordination, concentration, fitness.
Beginners Level - Classes focus on introduction to this great art form. Basic postures and concepts. Exercises, Adavus and different Hasta Mudra (hand gestures). Students learn the pure dance steps/Adavus in the beginning years of learning. In these crucial years, a solid foundation is laid that will help the student achieve perfection in later years. Each class is for an hour every week and students are encouraged to assimilate a routine to practice what they learn in class. Supported with notes and videos provided by the teacher
Intermediate Level - Classes focus on advance Adavus, Abhinaya, detailed Hasta Mudra usage. Introductory dance pieces, mandalas and more. Focuses on developing and maintaining posture and core strength. Rasa Abhinaya is introduced. Expressive items are introduced with basic emotion/ Abhinaya. To learn about the different facets of Indian deities, different mythological stories are explored. Supported with notes and videos provided by the teacher
Advanced Level - Intricate dance choreographies. Complex dance items with Abhinaya. Theory and taal lessons and more. In the three to four years prior to the Arangetram/ Rangapravesham, the varnams and other complicated items are taught and practiced.
Nattavangum - Basics of taal, practice and theory. Class are both online and in person
